Chimney & Spring Canyon

An extensive full-day hike of 10 miles requires advanced ability as we hike through towering high narrow cliffs of mesmerizing colors. The entirety of this experience has us looking upward at incredible rock chimneys, hoodoos, amphitheaters and goblins.

Spring Canyon stretches over 16 miles from the SE flank of Thousand Lakes Mountain in the Fishlake National Forest to the Fremont River in Capitol Reef National Park. The canyon is divided into Upper and Lower segments; the upper can be accessed from Holt Draw (difficult) west of the park, and the lower from Highway 24 within the park.

Our professional guides access the Upper Spring Canyon from Chimney Rock Canyon , a short-cut into the heart of Spring Canyon, from which point we will find moderate travel in either direction.  When our hike terminates, a quick wade through the shallow Fremont River is required.
